Knowles Tooth – Closure Statement
Press statement 30.09.2013 Knowles Tooth – Closure Statement
It is with sadness that the Family Support Work (FSW) Charity Trustees have decided to close its children’s centre, Knowles Tooth (KT) in Hurstpierpoint, West Sussex. The closure will allow the charity to concentrate its resources where the need is greatest – working with children and families in their homes across Sussex.
FSW Director Maggie Simons says:
‘’Knowles Tooth is a well known and loved building and we will all be sad to close it however our prime function of working with children and families across Sussex will strengthen as a result of this decision.
“The demand for our services across Sussex is significantly increasing as everyday more families find themselves socially and economically disadvantaged. The decision to close KT will allow the charity to fulfil its vision of increasing and developing the community team. The strength of FSW has always been to adapt and evolve to meet the needs and challenges of the families we seek to help. “
The provision currently offered to FSW families at Knowles Tooth will continue from alternative venues in association with the charity’s partner organisations.
FSW has been working in Sussex with families since 1890 and has helped thousands of local children and families with practical help and home support. It purchased Knowles Tooth in 1974
FSW will be celebrating its 125 years of service to Sussex in 2015.
