LEGACIES – Supporting FSW into the future
Whether you are considering writing your Will for the first time, or are making a change or addition to your existing Will, it is a wonderful opportunity to leave a legacy to your favourite charity.
It goes without saying that your primary concern should be for those closest to you, whether it be family or friends. The most important thing is that your Will reflects your true wishes, and takes into account your changing circumstances over the years.
Once you are happy that your family and friends have been taken care of, you may like to leave a legacy to an organisation such as FSW. Charitable institutions rely heavily on the generosity of the public in maintaining their support and services.
Legacies very often enable charities to carry out larger scale programmes such as the initiation of new support programmes and help provide the assurance that the existing work of the charity may continue.
There are financial advantages of leaving a gift to a charity in your Will. If the value of your estate exceeds the current inheritance tax threshold, part of your estate could go to the taxman. A Gift in your Will to a registered charity is always free from inheritance tax and might considerably reduce any tax to pay. Your will is a complex legal document and you should always seek professional advice when drafting it
Donations in Memory
Another form of gift you may like to consider is “Donations in Memory” in lieu of flowers. Sadly flowers fade but the benefit of a donation can change someone’s life forever.
If you leave a legacy to FSW you can be assured that your gift will be put to the very best use in improving the lives of the families of Sussex.
