Family Support Work volunteers work alongside our professional staff, supporting families receiving help from FSW. This can include helping with support groups, home visits, drop ins, recreational visits, and practical tasks.
The skills required include:
- Active listening
- Empathetic attitude
- Friendly, flexible and patient attitude to work with families whatever their circumstances
- Willingness and ability to receive training relating to family support work and to attend meetings
- An enhanced DBS disclosure
In return, you will have the chance to meet new people, develop your skills, receive training, and gain satisfaction from supporting families. Out of pocket expenses are paid.
We have a number of opportunities to support families with our workers across parts of Sussex. This includes the Nyewood Project in Bognor and the “Messy Play” sessions in Worthing.
